CUES
ODE TO #23
Nick Beretanos began collecting Doug's cues around 1998.  He's a great supporter and, a great friend.

To date Nick owns three Fostercues,
# 15, #19 and #23 with a fourth commission in the works, #50 a three piece break/jump.  Unfortunately for Nick, #15 is missing in action, no doubt liberated by an unsavory character.

For years Nick has been asking me to post pictures of #23 in the galleries but due to my poor photographic skills, I've never seemed to get any good shots until now.

The number 23 is special to Nick.  He once asked a friend who was on vacation in Las Vegas to wager a small bet on red 23 on the roulette wheel.  Nick won a sizeable amount and has been hooked on 23 ever since.

Nick told Doug he had to have the #23 and so it came to be.

#23 has a beveled ebony butt which is difficult to distinguish due to my poor photographic skills.  Clearly shown is the ebony point detail and the beautiful grain of the snakewood which is also highlighted with ebony.    At the top right, a very nice piece of birdseye maple makes an appearance.
Below, snakewood points atop ebony points and the brilliant birdseye maple forearm.
Snakewood points closeup.
Best view overall view of #23.  Ebony over snakewood.  Underside shows a hint of the secondary ebony points.  Birdseye forearm of very luminous quality.
Three shafts for one butt.
